International Arid Laboratory Building
Environmental Restoration Laboratory

In this laboratory, researchers study environmental restoration in land that is undergoing desertification, with an emphasis on wind erosion phenomena, erosion, salt accumulation, and so on.
Yellow Sand Observation Laboratory

The laboratory provides the Real-Time Arid Land Research Field Survey Support System (for monitoring vegetation conditions and surface temperatures) and the Monitoring System for Yellow Sand, which is a system for observing emissions of yellow sand, meteorological conditions, vegetation condition, and soil moisture in eastern Asia and for archiving satellite data. Based on these data, research on the impact of yellow sand is performed.
Gene-recombination Laboratory

This laboratory creates transgenic plants that can better tolerate dry conditions and high salt levels, and performs genetic analysis of arid land plants and microorganisms.
