The details of the vacancy information are as follows:


1. Background of the recruitment :
The Arid Land Research Center (ALRC) is a research institution affiliated to Tottori University, and it serves as a “Joint Usage/Research Center” in the field of dryland science. Please visit our web-site for the further details: http://www.alrc.tottori-u.ac.jp/english/e_index.html.
The Arid Land Research Center will launch a JST-founded project under the title of “Conversion of wild plants into novel food resources for sustainable food production”.
To enhance its activity, we would like to hire an excellent project (post-doctoral) researcher.


2. Ideal candidate:
Candidates must be able to work independently for a JST-funded research project "Conversion of wild plants into novel food resources for sustainable food production” with an interest in analysis of ultra hybrids. Must have strong knowledge and skills in genetics, molecular biology, and molecular cytogenetics. Must be able to write scientific manuscripts and discuss research in English.


3. Qualifications:
(1) Candidates have or will have a Doctoral degree.
(2) Must have an outstanding track record in academic fields mentioned in the "2. Ideal candidate profile” section.
(3) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with research organizations and teams (Associate Prof. Takayoshi Ishii).
(4) Solid communication skills in English required for Japanese candidates. Basic communication skills in Japanese required for foreign candidates.


4. Period of employment:
From August 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. The contract may be renewable yearly, until March 31, 2025. Monday through Friday, 5 days a week. (8:30-17:15, 7 h 45 min actual working hours) The start date is negotiable.


5. Treatment:
-Conditions of employment including salary are subject to the regulations of Tottori University
-Commuting allowance, bonus, health insurance, employees’ pension insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance
-Eligible to apply for Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research


6. Documents required:
(1) Curriculum vitae (ID photo and contact information required)
(2) Statement of research achievements (categorize by scientific papers, conference presentations, and others.)
(3) A research statement including summary of major research achievements and future research plan under the project (About 1 page of A4 size paper)
(4) List two people who can give their insight on the candidate and their contact information

July 6, 2023 (Deadline maybe extended in case of lack of application from qualified candidates)

8. Selection:
An interview may be conducted as needed depending on the result of screening process (video interview by Skype, etc. available).
