清水氏は、1977年東京大学理学部を卒業後、同年、国立公害研究所研究員、1990年国立環境研究所主任研究員、1998年同研究所地球環境研究センター研究管理官を経て、2006年同研究所アジア自然共生研究グループ主席研究員として、ご活躍されています。
その研究は、温暖化・有害紫外線増加等の地球環境変動や、大気汚染・酸性雨/霧・森林火災等の地域環境劣化が、森林衰退や砂漠化等、植物や生態系・生物多様性に及ぼす影響を、植物形態形成・植物生理生態的解析から解明すること、環境制御実験、現地調査/計測、シミュレーションモデル開発等の研究を統合化して、植物による環境再生/回復等の実践的研究を推進することであり、蘚苔類、羊歯類、草本、穀物、灌木、樹木等の陸上植物全体が研究対象です。また、現在、アジア地域における共同研究を推進中でいらっしゃいます。
Dr. Hideyuki SHIMIZU is a Special Senior Researcher in the Asian Environment
Research Group at the National Institute for Environmental Studies(NIES),l
Japan.
After graduating from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science of The University of Tokyo with an academic background in plant morphogenesis and eco-physiology, he has been working in NIES in the fields of terrestrial ecology and environmental botany related to many environmental problem, including air pollution, acid rain/fog, global warming, UV-B, tropical forest fire, biodiversity, forest decline and desertification.
He has experience as a research coordinator, a research program manager
(at the Center for Global Environmental Research) and as an international
coordination researcher at NIES, and more recently his interests have extended
to environmental conservation and rehabilitation of Asian terrestrial ecosystems
in collaboration with many foreign researchers in China, Korea, Mongolia,
Indonesia and so on.
He is interested in bryophytes both as a research subject (his doctoral thesis focused on "Air pollution an Bryophytes") and in pursuing his hobby of gardening.
