Exporting as an image

You can export the graph to word processing or presentation softwares as a metafile (*.emf) or a bitmap. By default, XYGrapher generates the former. You can select either of them with [Option] - [Type of export].
There are three ways to create an image file of current graph: Enhanced Metafile
Metafiles are standard recordings of Windows GDI or drawing instructions. Unlike raster images such as bitmaps, a metafile is scaleable and will generally preserve the quality of the image. Most of word processing or presentation softwares can import it. In Windows, there are two formats: windows 3.1 metafile (*.wmf) and enhanced metafile (*.emf). XYGrapher generates more capablpe latter.

After performing one of the above operations, subsequently displayed dialog box asks you whether the metafile is copied to clipboard ( or saved as a file). If you want to export through clipboard, click [Yes]. Otherwise, select [No]. In the latter case, a *.emf file is created in the same folder as the graph configuration file. You can import to word processing or presentation softwares using image inserting functions.
Also, when a graph is exported under navy background mode, black color used for font, frame, etc. is inverted to white, which is effective for being pasted to page with dark background.
Because the shapes of marker or line style tends to be distorted if the scale of a metafile is small, it is generated about four times as large as printing. Thus, you need to reduce the size after pasting.

Bitmap
For exporting to softwares that do not support metafile (or fonts in the metafile), you can export as a bitmap. On exporting, the bitmap is copied to clipboard. Since the quality is generally lower than metafile, it is recommended that you export after zoom-in and reduce the size after pasting.
